Diversifying our Supply Chain with WBE Canada

With International Women’s Day upon us, we look to celebrate an amazing initiative we’ve been working on to improve visibility and representation within our industry and supply chain. Since September 2020, Genumark has been an official corporate member of Women Business Enterprises Canada Council (WBE). Our connections with the organization has become extremely beneficial to leading change in our industry, and contribute to the economic growth of Canada women led businesses.

WBE CERTIFIED

WBE Canada is a non-profit organization that helps bring corporations and WBE companies together. To become WBE certified, you must be a business at least 51% owned, managed and controlled by women. Spanning across different industries, locations and categories, WBE has the largest database of Canadian women-owned businesses. On top of the certification, WBE looks to provide better business opportunities by offering a range of services and programs that include training and education, conferences, mentorship and more!

CREATING CHANGE

At Genumark, over 60% of our organization are women, but we still have to address change within our supply chain. Having the WBE corporate certification helps connect us with the kind of businesses we’d like to align ourselves with. Ultimately, without certifications like WBE and the events and resources they offer, it’s harder to get visibility into the makeup of vendor ownership structures. This empowers us to lift up other women led and owned businesses and that holds an effect that leads our clients to make informed buying decisions that do the same!

Our company has always been committed to employing a diverse workforce, and we look forward to formalizing our supplier diversity program with the help of WBE Canada. - Mitch Freed / CEO
