World Parkinson’s Day!

Parkinson Society Canada invites Canadians to show their support for more than 100,000 people living with Parkinson’s disease. World Parkinson’s Day is celebrated annually on this day, April 11th, the birthday of Dr. James Parkinson, for whom the disease is named. Celebrations across Canada include the sale of fresh tulip, parliamentary proclamations and educational events.

On April 11, 2005, the Red Tulip (the Parkinson Tulip) was launched as the Worldwide Symbol of Parkinson’s disease at the 9th World Parkinson’s disease Day Conference in Luxembourg.

The day is dedicated to advocating for people with Parkinson’s. World Parkinson’s Day increases awareness of Parkinson’s and is intended to spur new research and treatment initiatives. Parkinson Society Canada works to educate the public, particularly during the month of April, Parkinson Awareness Month, by hosting fundraising and awareness events and reaching out to Canadians with Parkinson’s and the general public.

Bell’s “One Night Under a Blue Sky” for CAMH

Genumark was a proud supporter of the Bell event “One Night Under a Blue Sky” which raised $1.2 Million for CAMH. Genumarkers Tracey Clingen, Colleen Gordon, David Lewenberg and Brad Armeland attended the gala!

The event took place on the 11th October 2011 and is the signature Bell event dedicated to supporting mental health in Canada and the extraordinary work of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).

We also had the below artwork in the event brochure to show how much we applaud all the hard work of the CAMH Foundation and Bell.

Rain or Shine! Nine, Wine & Dine!

The Globe and Mail Invitational 2011 – Nine, Wine & Dine that took place on July 14th is one of Vancouver’s premier charity golf tournaments. The event was hosted at the spectacular setting of Westwood Plateau Golf & Country Club.

Despite the very wet rain everyone invloved put on a smile and pulled together to support The Children’s Arts Umbrella Foundation. Thier goal is to help inspire kids for life through the arts.

Marie Clark (Event Commitee Member) & Elaine Hunter took part on behalf of Genumark in an event that exceeded expectations and raised over $100,000 in net profits!

The reason the event did so well was due to the amazing items in the live auction which included two backstage meet & greet tickets with Sarah McLachlan, a fully catered private dinner party courtesy of the new Edible Canada shop on Granville Island and a one hour flight in a fighter jet!

Kudos to the many sponsors that helped make the Globe and Mail Invitational 2011 – Nine, Wine & Dine possible.
