With most water bottles, you’ll find that your drink only stays cold for so long. Keep your beverages extra cold for longer with the brand new Volt Bottle. It’s made of super-durable stainless steel, it’s double walled and best yet, it’s even vacuum insulated to ensure that your beverages stay colder for longer. The top also has a convenient ring shape for clipping carabiners or keychains, making the Volt Bottle the perfect athletic types.
So I have been told, I mean asked, to start blogging. As we increase our social media presence at Genumark, I suppose it’s a good idea. At the very least I might learn a little more about the world my kids are living in.
Now what should I talk about? I doubt anyone cares that the Hot and Sour Soup I had last night at Lee Gardens on Spadina is still the best on the planet. Or that my new favourite television show is Shameless on Showtime. I think Lisa and I could be the only two people in Canada watching that one. So, to keep things interesting and business-related, I’ll tell this little story instead.
Back in 1977 I was a counselor at Camp Walden in Michigan. One of my campers at the time was an energetic 8 year old boy named Eric Lefkofsky. Fast forward another 20 years or so and now I’m working with HA-LO Canada. HA-LO buys a company called Starbellywhich positioned itself as the ultimate internet solution for the promotional products business. As it turns out, Eric (now about 30 years old) and his partner Brad Keywell own Starbelly. I dig up my old Camp Walden yearbook and show the cabin photo to my new boss, and we share a good chuckle.
Soon thereafter, for a variety of reasons, we decide to go our separate ways. I suppose Eric spends the next decade continuing to run and invest in a variety of Internet start-up companies. Well, last week I read that Eric made Forbes list of billionaires. Amongst other things, Eric is the single largest investor of Groupon! I got a big kick out of seeing that. My old camper, Eric Lefkofsky, a great guy and really smart to boot.
Stylish, well cut and eco-friendly, these are the things that make AUR Aware’s golf shirts so unique. That and the fact that the shirts you see below are made from coffee grounds and volcanic ash! The S. Cafe golf shirts are made from coffee grounds that are transformed into yarn which is then used to make their shirts. And, because most coffee grounds end up in landfills, the S. Cafe clothing line helps to reduce landfill waste. The Geotech shirts use a similar process but instead of coffee, volcanic ash is transformed into yarn which is then woven into the shirt you see below on the right.
These days there are dispensers of hand sanitizer pretty much everywhere you turn—and for good reason. Germs lurk on surfaces you normally wouldn’t think twice about, including the five most germ-infested places outlined below. Note that some of these might just surprise you!
1. Your Desk
2. Your Kitchen Sponge
3. Your Cell Phone: Much like your desk, you cell phone is used frequently but rarely disinfected. Additionally, it’s often carried in the hand or stuck in a pocket, where it stays nice and warm—just what bacteria needs to flourish. A recent set of tests by Dr. Charles Gerba, professor of environmental microbiology at the University of Arizona in Tucson, showed cell phones frequently carry staph bacteria, which can cause everything from skin infections to meningitis! Give your cell a good wipe with a disinfecting cloth or get your hands on a nifty cell sanitizer
4. Your Makeup
5. Your Handbag
